Even if nurseries and kindergartens follow different educational concepts - the former focus on nursing and emotional care, sensory experiences and developing social behaviour outside of the home, whilst the latter include more and more didactic exercises - the children's personal development and preparing them to enter their first years of school, together with learning how to behave in social situations, is at the top of the agenda. Self-awareness, developing a sense of responsiblity, independence, decison-making abilities, tolerance and fostering children's ability to interact with other people are the goals of responsible pre-primary education. This is because the ability to be considerate of others and to enjoy learning are some of the key skills needed for a successful school career.
